Rolling Tides Construction is a Victoria-based general contractor shaping Vancouver Island's communities through disciplined execution, strong systems, and a people-first culture. With 30-35 team members and growing, the company specializes in public sector infrastructure, commercial builds, and multifamily development. The Financial Controller will oversee day-to-day accounting operations while strengthening financial systems to support scaling operations. This is a hands-on leadership role working closely with the CEO and leadership team. The right candidate will combine construction accounting expertise with strong analytical capabilities and a growth-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger
- Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports
- Manage cash flow forecasting and working capital
- Oversee job costing, WIP reporting, and margin forecasting
- Identify financial risks, cost overruns, and margin variances
- Develop and improve financial controls, systems, and workflows
- Support budgeting, forecasting, KPI tracking, and strategic planning
Qualifications
- 2 or more years of accounting or financial control experience
- Construction accounting experience strongly preferred (GC or trade contractor)
- Strong knowledge of job costing, WIP reporting, progress billing, and holdbacks
- Procore experience is considered an asset
- Advanced Excel proficiency
- Analytical, organized, proactive, and growth-driven
- Must be in-office (Langford)
Pay & Benefits
- Full-time, permanent employment
- Pay: CAD$85,000 to CAD$100,000 annually, based on experience
